Joe Whitley is the first General Counsel of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (2003-2005), overseeing 1,500 attorneys. Prior government service includes U.S. Attorney for the Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia and Acting Associate Attorney General under Presidents Reagan and George H.W. Bush. Currently chairs White Collar Defense and Criminal Investigations at Womble Bond Dickinson and teaches homeland security law as an adjunct professor at GWU and American University.
