The E 2 treaty investor visa allows nationals of countries that maintain a treaty of commerce and navigation with the United States to invest in and direct the operations of a U.S. business. Unlike the EB 5 investor visa, the E 2 does not require a minimum dollar investment, does not lead directly to a green card, and is only available to nationals of treaty countries. E 2 visas are typically issued for up to five years and can be renewed indefinitely as long as the business remains operational and the investor continues to direct it. An experienced E 2 attorney helps structure the investment, prepare the business plan, and assemble the documentation that demonstrates a qualifying investment in a real, operating enterprise.
